The spherical plain bearing types SB and SA 1 are self-alingning plain bearings with a hardened and ground inner ring of high-carbon chrome bearing steel and an outer ring provided with a zinc phosphate coating, and molybdenum disulfide (Mos2) baking treatment has been executed, so that heavy loads can be withstood.

These bearings can take up large radial loads and thrust loads in both directions, and they also are strong in regard to impact loads, they are the most suitable for cylinder clevis or hinge parts of construction machines and civil engineering machines, as well as for low-speed oscillating parts with heavy loads, like truck suspensions, train bolster anchors, etc.
Type SB
This series is the most popular in japan. The spherical contact part has a large width, and this type is used for heavy loads. The inner ring is installed in the split outer ring.
Type SA 1
This series is used generally in Europe. The outer ring is split at only one place, the width is smaller than that of the type SB, and the thickness also is smaller, so that compact use is possible.
A sealed type (SA1…UU) with highly effective dust seals at both sides also is available
